Drug use among secondary school students
Nagy, L.

Objective: to identify patterns, motivation and knowledge about drug use among secondary school students, and to identify risk groups.
Method: a representative sample of 992 students from the 9-12th grades was surveyed using a questionnaire, followed by an interview.
Findings: the majority of students were found to be aware of the hazards and harms of drug use and rejects illicit drugs. Licit drugs were consumed by students to nearly the same extent as among adults. The use of illicit drugs, including hard ones, showed higher values among males, the 17-18 year-olds, city dwellers, daily regular smokers, isolated young persons without any true friends, as well as among children of self-employed parents and smoking mothers. Misconceptions about using illicit drugs and the lack of responsibility were also identified among the students surveyed.
Conclusions: these findings should contribute to raising the awareness of competent professionals about the need to apply more effective prevention methods in a much broader scope and with unremitting enthusiasm.

Considerations in the nursing care of patients after laryngectomy
Illyés Rajki, V.

Objective: to study the psychological status and response to the disease of patients following laryngectomy. To compare findings of a previous survey of the nursing staff at the same wards.
Method: a survey of patients at two hospital services; questionnaire survey of nurses at the same two services, in which the attitudes, working relationships among nurses, doctors and other members of the health care team were explored in order to identify the impact of these factors on the quality of nursing care.

Evidence based nursing
Gulácsi, L.
