Home nursing of patients in coma-vigil
Kocsis, I., Macskásy, O., Tasnádi, Á.

This paper reviews the clinical features and etiology of coma-vigil. It is pointed out that as this conditions is not notifiable, it is not possible to identify the annual incidence of cases, consequently its epidimiological implications cannot be assessed. The conditions and requirements of nursing a patient in coma-vigil at home are summarised and the personal composition of the team involved in the care of these patients is discussed. It is maintained that the task of caring for a person in coma-vigil cannot be left for the informal carer (family member), even if the family acquired some nursing skills prior to the patient’s discharge home.

The German nursing insurance scheme
Boncz I., Betlehem, J., Sebestyén, A.

The problem studied: To describe the German insurance scheme, and within it, the system of nursing care insurance.

Method: Literature review, analysis and evaluation, which encompasses the analsys of the German ’Pflegeversicherungsgesetz’ and a critical review of relevant publications.

Results: The paper describes the pillars of the German insurance system, the stadtujtory and private health insurance schemes as the context of nursing care insurance. It then reviews the institutional system, types, entitlements and contribution of the nursing care insurance scheme. The different levels of nursing are are defined, followed by a description of benefits and services delivered in the frames of nursing insurance. Finally, nursing insurance benefit providers and the impact of the scheme are discussed.

Conclusions: The careful and professionally well prepared introduction of the German nursing insurance scheme was an adequate response to demographic challenges. It is suggested that professional considerations and careful studies should be done in order to investigate the possible date and ways of eventually introducing nursing insurance in Hungary.

Keywords: nursing insurance, health insurance, Germany, healthcare reform

Medical library or health library?
Erdeiné Törõcsik, K.

Originally medical libraries were created in order to provide library services to doctors and other healthcare workers. While medical literature has been growing steadily in volume, health literature has been dealt with in much smaller numbers of publications. However, a considerable development in this field has taken place in recent years. The paper reviews the developments in professional literature on healthcare and it discusses the impact of these developments on libraries.
