The Role of the Private Sector and Privatisation in European Health Systems
Hungarian language summary of the fifty-second session of WHO Regional Committee for Europe held in Copenhagen, 16-19 September 2002. Many Member States in the Region are looking at the role of the private sector and privatisation in the context of the reform of their health systems. This document explores current developments in this field, addresses two elements central to the debate (definitions of terms and the role of the values and ideology), outlines existing evidence and highlights the importance of government stewardship. Its
ultimate purpose is to address how WHO can assist Member States in providing evidence and through direct country support.

Building on Values: The Future of Health Care in Canada
Hungarian language summary of the "Romanow-study". In April 2001, the Prime Minister established the Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada and gave Roy J. Romanow the task of serving as its sole Commissioner. His mandate was to review Medicare, engage Canadians in a national dialogue on its future, and make recommendations to enhance the system's quality and sustainability. Published in November 2002, the study consists of 11 chapters and 47 recommendations.
